Often, due to limited budgets and physical restrictions, aging adults are unable to make basic repairs on their homes. By addressing these basic repairs often and early, we hope to reduce the need for critical repairs and assist the aging population in the ability to live autonomously and with dignity in their homes without environmental concerns, or structural risks.
Our partnership with the Shawnee County Advocacy Council on Aging, business partners and community donors makes it possible for us to offer our Aging in Place services. To apply for this program please call 785-234-4322.

CAPABLE
We are excited to add a new program to our aging in place service, CAPABLE.
The CAPABLE program is being offered through a partnership between Midland Care and Topeka Habitat for Humanity. It is a person-centered, home-based program that addresses mobility, functionality of the home and holistic healthcare. This free four to five-month program integrates services from an occupational therapist (OT), a registered nurse (RN), and a Habitat handy worker who works together with the older adult to set goals and direct-action plans that improve health, independence, quality of life and safety.

Accessibility Modifications
In partnership with the Topeka Independent Living Resource Center (TILRC), Topeka Habitat offers an affordable accessibility modification program through the Topeka Habitat ReStore. In addition, Topeka Habitat can assist with accessibility modification projects for individuals age 60 and over who own their home and we can connect individuals to additional community resources. Making accessibility modifications to a home can be a daunting and expensive task. Topeka Habitat is dedicated to ensuring safe and decent housing for all members of our community.
This program is managed on a case-by-case and is dependent on funding. Please call (785) 234-4322 for more information.
