The future is bright.
Vocational partnerships are building a bright future
We are proud to partner with Topeka-area high school vocational programs to help build our Habitat homes.
Current vocational partners:
Topeka Center for Advance Learning and Careers
(Topeka Public Schools)
Students help with building at our Topeka Habitat home sites and also with projects built in the construction workshop at our Habitat headquarters building,
Students build Habitat home components in their school construction shop and also help with building at our Topeka Habitat home sites as part of a construction science curriculum.
Local High School Art Classes
Art students help with Habitat property acquisitions by painting tromp l'oeil panels that look like windows for use on derelict properties awaiting demolition or repair.
Service, Employment, Redevelopment National (SER)
We offer SER placements for individuals over the age of 55 to gain skills to reenter the workforce. Individuals placed through this program work at the ReStore and construction sites to gain skill and experience to achieve successful employment in our community.
Internships
We offer internships to local youth and individuals interested in the building trades. These internships allow individuals the opportunity to enhance skills and garner a philanthropic connection to our community.
