Celebrating 40 years of building community, empowering families,
and transforming lives

For 40 years, Topeka Habitat for Humanity has built strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

​

In 1984, a group of volunteers with a passion to help low-income individuals achieve homeownership came together to establish the Topeka affiliate and pledged to serve the global mission of Habitat for Humanity International. The organization worked with dedicated volunteers and established partnerships with local churches, non-profit organizations, and hospitals to work toward the vision that every community member has a decent and affordable place to live.

Since our founding, we have built 115 homes and continue to build two or three new homes each year. We also offer four different programs to aid low-income individuals in repairing and rehabilitating their residences.

 

We celebrate and live our mission each day, and are increasing our impact by offering additional family support services and offering a new tool-lending program to address blight and increase neighborhood pride in Topeka.
