Habitat for Humanity Topeka - Neighbor Helping Neighbor

front.jpgThe concept is simple.  Habitat for Humanity helps build affordable homes for lower income families in our community. It's not a "something for nothing" program.  Habitat families are good people, who purchase their homes through a no-interest real estate mortgage, make monthly payments, have put sweat equity into building the homes, and take care of them while living there.

Neighbor helping neighbor in it's purest form...building homes and rebuilding entire neighborhoods.

Over the past twenty five years, Topeka Habitat for Humanity has built over seventy homes in Topeka, with the help of people just like you.

We're building several right now, and we need to build many more.  But we need YOUR help.

Help us find families.  Help with labor.  Help with money, materials or land.  Help anyway you can.

Topeka Habitat for Humanity was officially incorporated on May 14, 1984, beginning a 25 year endeavor to improve the housing for disadvantaged citizens of Topeka.  

From the first remodeling project at 1516 SE 6th (left) to the latest partnership with Thrivent building a new home at 1400 SW VanBuren (right), Topeka Habitat has been working with area volunteers, support from the community and area businesses to provide decent affordable housing to lower income families.

Celebrating Achievements Through Our Partnerships

1400 SW VanBurenThrivent Builds/Local Churches Partner with Topeka Habitat

Topeka Habitat has partnered with Thrivent Builds along with area Lutheran churches since 2008 to build several new houses.  The current project is at 2021 SW Lane. Thrivent Builds sponsors Habitat building projects in Kansas and Missouri.

1315 SE OaklandCoreFirst Bank & Trust Gives to Topeka Habitat for Humanity

CoreFirst Bank & Trust's relationship with Habitat for Humanity stems back to 1992 when the bank was the first corporate sponsor to aid in the constuction of a Habitat home.  Employees of the bank volunteered their time and talents to build the 7th Habitat house in the Topeka community for a deserving family at 11th & Lime.  (Read the complete story)
