Job Title:   Volunteer Coordinator

Reports to: Chief Operations Officer

 

Basic Function: The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of volunteer activity for Topeka Habitat for Humanity.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

·       Respond to all individual and group volunteer inquiries

·       Develop and implement a strategy for actively soliciting, engaging, and maintaining volunteers

·       Act as liaison to other organizations who are sending volunteers

·       Schedule volunteers to meet the volunteer needs of construction, ReStore and administrative staff

·       Maintain volunteer database

·       Maintain formal and informal volunteer appreciation program

·       Update job descriptions for volunteer positions

·       Monitor volunteer satisfaction

·       Oversee food, staging and related logistics for special build events

·       Ensure compliance with all affiliate policy and procedure and volunteer management practices are updated

·       Implement strategy for recruitment and training of repair program core volunteers

·       Participate in local volunteer initiatives, committees and efforts related to volunteer management and recruitment

·       Other responsibilities as assigned by Chief Operations Officer

 

Job Type:        Part-Time, 20-25 hours per week, $20/hr (some weekends and evenings necessary)

 

Skills:

 

·       Enthusiasm, teamwork-focused, and strong customer service orientation

·       Well organized and detail oriented

·       Effective leadership and team building skills

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse environment with flexibility

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·       Prior volunteer management experience required

·       Social service experience or degree preferred

·       Bilingual preferred
