Dear Volunteer:
Habitat for Humanity International lives with the goal of eliminating substandard housing in our world. Habitat has built more than 225,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter. Topeka Habitat has renovated or built over 70 houses since we began in 1984. Are there fewer sub-standard homes in our city today? I don't know. I can guarantee there are still families living in poor housing. We can do something about that!
How can you help? You can join the Topeka affiliate of Habitat for Humanity in building new homes for deserving families in our community. Our work events typically take place on Saturdays or Sundays. You can take part in a single event or sign up for as many as you wish. There are no special skills required.
Topeka Habitat provides a very easy to use web site for its volunteers. Click on the "Volunteer Now" button on this page and set up your profile. Every work event will be posted on this site with the number of volunteers needed. Simply sign back into the volunteer website to select which events you would like to work. An email confirmation will be sent as well as a reminder prior to the event.
Volunteers can participate in all phases of building a home, framing, exterior sheeting, interior finishing, painting, landscaping, etc. You will experience the joy of working side by side with the new home-owner family in building their new home. It is a unique satisfaction to take part in creating something that will have a lasting effect on this family and their future generations.
If you would like to volunteer in other ways to help Habitat, please complete the "General Volunteer Form" and send to the address provided on the form.
Please volunteer today to become part of the Habitat for Humanity mission to provide safe, decent, affordable housing for deserving families in our community.
Thank you,
Jacob Gough
