1984 - 1988
May 14, 1984 – Topeka Habitat for Humanity (THFH) was incorporated by the State of Kansas to operate as a non-profit organization in Topeka, KS. THFH was affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International and followed their model to provide decent, affordable housing for lower income families. The founding directors include:

1516 SE 6th---This house was purchased and rehabilitated in 1985 for the Juanita Geary family, by Emery and Dorothy Fager. Juanita’s brother Levi Thomas completed the contract in 2005 and sold the home.
333 SE Swygart--- This house was built in 1986 for the Chas. Lake family by Bill Hogue, Lowell Miller, Royce Fulmer, and Eastminister Presbyterian Church. It was rehabilitated in 1996 for the Julio Galindo family, by THFH and the City of Topeka.
329 SE Swygart---This house was built in 1986 for the Sharon Dabzadeh family, by Bill Hogue, Lowell Miller, Royce Fulmer and The Eastminister Presbyterian Church.
325 SE Swygart---This house was built in 1986 for the Tim Bell family, by Bill Hogue, Lowell Miller, and Royce Fulmer, and the Eastminister Presbyterian Church.
701 SE Chandler---(No picture available of the original house) An old house on this site was purchased by Dorothy and Emery Fager in 1987 and and donated to THFH. It was then rehabilitated for the Tom Richardson Family. The Richardsons later moved to Salina and the House was rehabilitated again in 1989 and sold to the Stanley Miller family. The Millers moved out in 1991 and the house was rehabilitated again for Steve Wells and his mother Freda Lawson. It was destroyed by fire in 1996. The Wells family moved to 627 Lafayette St. A new house was built on this site (see picture and related information for 1997 projects below).
715 SE Lawrence--- This house was moved to this site and rehabilitated in 1987 for the Laura Tibbets family, by THFH and St Francis Hospital.
711 SE Lawrence---This house was moved to this site and rehabilitated in 1987 for the Sarah Humphrey family, by THFH and St. Francis Hospital.
635 SE Chandler ---Built new in 1988 for the Frank Lake Family by THFH with help from Methodist Youth Group from Little Rock, AR. The home was rehabilitated in 1998 for the Tina Oliver family and again in 2000 by THFH for the Doris Johnson family.
1989 - 1993
708 SE Chandler---Built new in 1989 for the Janice Jones family, by THFH and Terry Stanton, homebuilder, with the help of First Baptist Church Youth.
735 SE Liberty---This house was built in 1990 for the Clifford Sanders family, by THFH.
1217 SE 10th---This house was built in 1990 for the Marion Samples family, by the First Christian Church of Topeka and Mike McPherson, building contractor.
1221 SE 10th---This house was built in 1990 for the Vasser family, by the Presbyterian Churches of Topeka and Boyd Hogue, building contractor.
1010 SE Indiana and 1011 SE Lime--- These two houses were built in 1991 for the Michael Lathrom and the Steve Wilson families, by Bob and Jake Ediger and the Fairlawn Mennonite Church of Topeka. (Note: They are actually tied together under a common roof because of the building site limitations.) 1010 SE Indiana was rehabilitated in 1993 for the Tom Bombardier family, by THFH. 1011 SE Lime was rehabilitated in 1994 and a basement bedroom and bath room added for the Debra Beard family, by THFH.
704 SE Chandler---Built in 1991 for the James Kristenet family by THFH, by Bob Berry and the Junior League of Topeka.
1018 SE Lime---This house was built in 1992 for the Richard Thompson family, by the Topeka Downtown Rotary Club. It was rehabilitated in 1997 for the Barbara Harris family, by THFH.
1020 SE Lime---This house was built in 1992 for the Steve Van Sickle family, by The Junior League of Topeka and Bob Berry Homebuilders.
1033 SE Lime---This house was built in 1992 for the Deron Bradley family, by The First Congregational Church and Ruth & Bernard Fink.
1034 SE Lime---This house was built in 1992 for the Thomas Mitchell family, by the United Methodist Churches of Topeka.
1035 SE Lime---This house was built in 1992 for the Richard Ferrer family, by Commerce Bank & Trust and Krause Bros. Contractors.
915 SE Wood---This house was built in 1993 for the Tucker family, by Amvesters Financial Corp. It was rehabilitated in 1997 for the Darlene Spann family, by THFH.
634 SE Lawrence--- This house was built in 1993 for the Joe Sims family, by THFH and the East Topeka United Methodist Church to honor Rev Fred Craig.
1025 SE Lime---This house was built in 1993 for the Ruby Collins family, by the First Presbyterian Church.
1994 - 1998
630 SE Lawrence--- This house was built in 1994 for the Daniel Forman family, by Dr Paul Leffler and his daughter Ann Palmer as a Memorial to Mrs Leffler. It was rehabilitated in 1997 for the Kevin Green family, by THFH.
1037 SE Chandler---This house was purchased and rehabilitated in 1994 for the Jaye Bergman family, by Dorothy and Emery Fager.
626 SE Lawrence---This house was built in 1994 for the Loraine Fondren family, by THFH and the Topeka Board of Realtors.
1208 SW Clay---This house was built in 1995 for the Margaret Sherrod family, by John Casson and the Grace Cathedral Episcopal Church.
919 SE Wood---This house was built in 1996 for the Robert & Mary Shisler family, by THFH.
923 SE Wood---This house was built in 1996 for the Claude Trusty family, by the Presbyterian Churches of Topeka and dedicated to the loving memory of Joan Weber, former Pastor of Eastminister Presbyterian Church.
1275 SW Lincoln---This house was built in 1996 for the James Davis family, by Dean Rinner, Wilbur Glenn, and the Congregational Churches of Topeka. Davis’s left Topeka and the home was rehabilitated in 2003 and sold to Michelle Canizales.
627 SE Lafayette---This house was purchased in 1996 for the Steve Wells family, by THFH after the fire destroyed their home at 701 SE Chandler. Contract completed in 2004.
1821 SE Chandler---This house was purchased and rehabilitated in 1996 for the Wandela Scott family, by THFH.
1104 SE Lawrence---This house was built in 1996 for the Belinda Lewis family. by THFH and Chuck Tantillo. It was rehabilitated in 2000 by THFH, for the Michelle Dominguez family.
1108 SE Lawrence---This house was built in 1996 for the Donald McCants family, by THFH.
1112 SE Lawrence---This house was built in 1997 for the Cynthia Freeman family, by THFH. It was rehabed in 2000 by THFH for the Glenda Nickerson family.
1124 SE Lawrence---This house was built in 1997 for the Jesus Morones family, by THFH and the City of Topeka. The Morones moved to Texas in December 2000 and the house was rehabilitated in 2001 for the Carmelita Silva family.
635 SE Lawrence---This house was built in 1997 for the Carolyn Nance family, by THFH in Honor of Vivian Nolte for her Generous Support.
701 SE Chandler---An old house on this site was purchased by Dorothy and Emery Fager and was rehabilitated in 1987 by THFH. It was destroyed by fire in 1996. A new house was built on this site in 1997 by THFH, in honor of Bernard and Ruth Fink, with the help of Washburn Rural, Seaman, and Shawnee High School Industrial Arts Classes for the Frank Lake family who liked this neighborhood but had outgrown the house at 635 SE Chandler.
1119 SE Lime ---This house was built in 1998 for the Barbra Prater family, by THFH and Seaman High School.
1045 SE Lawrence---This house was built in 1998 for the Gayla Noriega family, by THFH and Washburn Rural High School.
3801 SE Bryant---This house was built in 1999 by THFH and Washburn Rural High School, for the Richard Gutschenritter family. It was rehabilitated in 2000 by THFH for the Lorrie Slaughter family.
1999 - 2003
1115 NW Jackson---This house was built in 1999 by Ivan Weichert and the First Baptist Church of Topeka, for the Andrew Bayless Family.
334 SE Swygart---This house was built in 1999 by THFH, Seaman High School, and the Tantillo Family Foundation, for the Loretta Nelson family.
719 SE Locust---This house was built in 2000 by Washburn Rural High School and THFH for the Jose Garcia family.
725 SE Locust---This house was constructed at Seaman High School in 2000, moved to this site by Kan-Build, Inc., and finished by THFH for the Donita Douglas family.
1200 SW Clay---This house was built in 2000 by the Countryside United Methodist Church for the Johan Freeland family.
1013 SE Locust--- This house was built by Seaman High School in 2001 (in 24 hrs.), moved to this site by Kan-Build, Inc., and was finished by THFH for the Eliza Roberts family.
1016 SE Lawrence---This house was built by Seaman High School Students in 2001, moved to this site by Kan-Build Inc., and was finished by THFH. It is leased to the Galen & Tammy Brown family until the house at 1319 SE 10th was completed fir them. It was sold to Lisa Cooper family in December 2002.
701 SE Locust---This house was built in 2001 by Washburn Rural High School Students and THFH for the Roberta Grier family. It was rehabilitated in 2002 for the Helen Bailey family.
1014 SE Lime---This house was built by Seaman High School, moved to this site in 2002, and finished by THFH for the Tara Sims Family.
1319 SE 10th---This house was built in 2002 for the Galen Brown family, by Washburn Rural High School and THFH.
1315 SE 10th---This house was finished in 2003 for the Felicia Brooks family, by THFH and Ron Redmond using the SIP Panel system.
1275 SW Lincoln -- Existing home built in 1996 for Davis family, repossessed and rehabilitated for Michelle Canizales in 2003.
1311 SE 10th-- Seaman High School Project home Completed in Dec 2003 for Melva Fulton then sold to Tyra Riley.
1237 SW Lincoln-- Joint Project 6 bedroom home completed in Dec 2003 by THFH and the Local Lions Clubs for Dan & Connie Vega.
2004 - 2008
1229 SW Lincoln -- Joint Project home completed in March 2004 by THFH and the Women in Construction Group as a Women’s Build Project for Ruben Aldape family.
1104 SE Lime -- Seaman High School Project home completed in October 2004 by THFH for Pam Epperson family.
1233 SW Lincoln – Joint Project home by THFH and the Board of Realtors completed in February 2005 for Jose & Elizabeth Soto.
1032 SE Lawrence – Holton High School Project Home built in 2004 to be delivered to site in 2005 for the Clara Roberts family.
711 SE Chandler -- Special Project home by the First United Methodist Church 150th Year Celebration led by Al Acker for the Palmer family.
1224 SW Lincoln - Federal Home Loan Bank Project in a joint effort with area financial institutions, completed in early 2006 for Teneka White and family.
1122 SE Locust – Seaman High School 2005 Project completed and occupied by Erika Brown in late 2006.
1116 SE Locust – Seaman High School 2006 Project completed and occupied by Amandra Chambers in late 2007.
233 SE Hancock – Washburn Rural High School Project house built for Alberto Alvarez Family to replace their home which burned to the ground in January.
1201 SE Washington – Seaman High School 2007 Project delivered to the job site in November 2007.
1026 SE Lime – Seaman High School 2008 Project delivered to the job site in Summer 2008. Finish work in process for the Rubin Muniz and Loretta Rivera Family.
1237 SW Lincoln – Originally the Vega home repossessed in 2008 and rehabilitated by the Kaw Area Technical School students and Steve Greene.
1315 NE Oakland – CoreFirst Bank Project home rehabilitated during 2008, donated to Habitat for the Jay and Karen Snyder Family.
405 SW Buchanan – CoreFirst Bank Project home rehabilitated during 2008.
1400 SW Van Buren – Thrivent Lutheran Churches Project home built in a joint effort with area Lutheran churches for the Steve Patterson Family, occupied in November 2008.
